Pinoeyeforshanghai
This is a 10 metre tall construction representing the famous puppet invented by Carlo Collodi in his fairy tale Pinocchio, resting in a standing position.
The internal structural part is made with of iron pipes of different shapes.
The external part looks like a layering of multi-coloured waste materials.
The puppet’s limbs are of different widths, the largest is the trunk, then the legs and finally the arms.
All the waste, which constitute the body of Pinocchio, are therefore mounted from its side. It will be exhibited in an indoor space.
When this waste will come out of the Department Store, it will have to be sorted by size, crushed and perforated and then fed into the pipes starting from the bottom, obviously from the feet, to finally reach the highest part of the hat.
For safety reasons, an anchoring cable is hooked from the ceiling of the space that houses the puppet.
Two horizontal lintels, one for the pelvis and the other for the shoulders, will block the pipes, the pelvic lintel will block the pipes under the legs and the shoulders lintel will block the arms and the trunk below, while the head pipes will be also blocked in place .
A smaller horizontal tube will be used to shape the nose.
All the pipes must be threaded at the end in order to screw bolts on them.
Pinoeyeforshanghai can be disassembled and taken apart, in order to remove the waste and place it back into recycling containers, and also in order to store the pipes and lintels.
This Pinocchio aims to be a warning, telling us how garbage is a resource and should never be wasted, so that it will be reused as raw material and given another purpose.
